As District 117 and the world become more culturally, economically, and politically diverse, we are committed to developing students who are knowledgeable and capable of recognizing differences and acting in a way that demonstrates acceptance, tolerance, and democratic principles…..
a. Understanding minorities
i. Promote diversity clubs, international night type events, Celebrate minority events (Black History)… International Fair (Spring 2011 by FL at Lakes) and events celebrating diversity will occur at both buildings
b. Ethics
i. Examine Character Counts, Facing History and Ourselves….
ii. Review Anti-Defamation League programs
c. ELL, Special Education, school climate, senior citizens
d. Community Outreach- Encourage building to build upon current offerings
e. Examination of language offerings
